The Financial Reporting Council (FRC) today publicly announced new appointments and re-appointments of members to the Australian Accounting Standards Board (AASB) and the Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (AUASB).
The FRC Chairman, Mr Charles Macek, and the Chairman of the FRC Nominations Committee, Mr Phillip Prior, congratulate the newly appointed and re-appointed members. The members will join the Boards during a very important and challenging period, as they develop standards within a dynamic international standard setting framework.
AUASB members, appointed on a part-time basis, are:
- Ms Dianne Azoor Hughes, National Technical Director, Pitcher Partners (Appointed from 1 January 2005 until 31 December 2006).
- Professor Christine Jubb, Professor of Accounting, Deakin University (Appointed from 1 January 2005 until 31 December 2007).
- Mr Kim Smith, Partner, Ernst & Young (Appointed from 1 January 2005 until 31 December 2007).
- Mr Jon Tyers, Head of Corporate Audit Services, ING (Appointed from 1 January 2005 until 31 December 2007).
AUASB members, re-appointed on a part-time basis, are:
- Mr Clive Mottershead, Partner, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu (Re-appointed from 1 July 2005 until 30 June 2007).
- Mr Kevin Neville, Partner, Moore Stephens HF (Re-appointed from 1 January 2005 until 31 December 2007).
- Mr Robert Sendt, Auditor-General, Audit Office of New South Wales (Re-appointed from 1 July 2005 until 31 December 2006).
AASB members, appointed on a part-time basis, are:
- Mr Bruce Porter, Partner, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu (Appointed from 1 January 2005 until 31 December 2007).
- Ms Kris Peach, Partner, KPMG (Appointed from 15 February 2005 until 14 February 2007).
- Ms Joanna Perry, Chairman of the New Zealand Financial Reporting Standards Board (Appointed from 1 January 2005 until 31 December 2005).
AASB members, re-appointed on a part-time basis, are:
- Ms Judith Downes, Group General Manager Finance, ANZ (Re-appointed from 1 March 2005 until 28 February 2007).
- Professor Ken Leo, Professor of Accounting, Curtin University of Technology (Re-appointed from 15 February 2005 until 14 February 2007).
The appointment of Ms Joanna Perry is consistent with the objective of developing closer Trans-Tasman ties on accounting issues between Australia and New Zealand. All the appointments to the Boards were agreed to by the FRC at its 6 December 2004 meeting, following the recommendations made by the FRC Nominations Committee.
