Bulletin
2001/2 - 26 March 2001
The Deputy Chairman of the Financial Reporting Council (FRC), Mr Michael Ullmer, today announced the resignation of Dr Doug McTaggart as a member of the Australian Accounting Standards Board (AASB) with effect from 16 March 2001.
Except for the Chairman (who is appointed by the Treasurer), members of the AASB are appointed by the FRC which is the peak body responsible for the broad oversight of the accounting standard setting process for the private and public sectors. The FRC comprises key stakeholders from the business community, the professional accounting bodies, governments and regulatory agencies.
Dr McTaggart, who was appointed to the Board from 15 February 2000, said that he had regretfully tendered his resignation in view of added responsibilities associated with his position as Chief Executive Officer of the Queensland Investment Corporation.
On behalf of the FRC, Mr Ullmer thanked Dr McTaggart for his contribution to the Board.
Mr Ullmer said that a new Board appointment was being considered by the Nominations Committee of the FRC. He expected that a recommendation would be made to the full Council in the near future.
